Our story first began in 7th grade Texas History class where we sat next to each other. From the very first day, we quickly became good friends who often got in trouble for talking too much. It seemed like even our teacher knew something was budding, because no matter how often the seating chart changed, we always seemed to end up near each other.

One day, Victoria proudly set her brand-new running shoes on the desk, and Scotty immediately called it gross. Naturally, she made him smell them. To this day, Victoria swears that was the exact moment Scotty fell in love.

From there, our friendship grew into one filled with laughter, inside jokes, and plenty of playful banter. On the last day of school before heading into 8th grade, Scotty finally worked up the courage to ask for Victoria’s number, and countless texts followed. Our conversations mostly consisted of making fun of each other and calling one another “loser,” which was our way of flirting. For years we stayed best friends, always wondering if it could ever turn into something more.

That “something more” finally came during our senior year of high school. On one of our many late-night drives, Scotty finally said, “I can’t just be friends with you anymore. I really like you.” Shocked but secretly thrilled, Victoria didn’t know what to say. She dropped him off at home, went straight to her mom, and was asked just one question: “How would you feel if he went on a date with someone else?” The answer was clear. On October 28, 2018, we officially began dating, and we’ve been together ever since.

From high school days to long-distance college years, soccer games, Oklahoma State game days, and now careers in the same city, we’ve shared and grown through every stage of life together. Today, some of our favorite moments are the simple ones: going to church, driving around, cheering on our teams, spending time with family and friends, hitting golf balls at the range, and walking Kobe. We’ve learned to love each other’s passions, and most importantly, we’ve grown not only in our love for each other but also in our faith in the Lord.

On June 20th, Scotty planned the sweetest surprise proposal right on the dock where we will begin our wedding celebrations. Victoria thought they were going to a nice family dinner, but instead, she was led to a dock covered in rose petals and candles. It was the easiest and quickest “yes” she has ever said.

Now we cannot wait to begin the next chapter as husband and wife, surrounded by our loved ones in McCall, and start this new journey together with all of our favorite people.
